Caption CERN Contest Week 8

A contest log for Caption CERN Contest

Caption CERN, win a prize!

Week 8: 3/25/2015 - 9pm PDT 4/1/2015

Caption, Caption, who's got the winning Caption?

What do you think is going on in this image from CERN's archives?

Link to the original CERN image.

Some scientists and engineers at CERN appreciate their equipment more than others. This CERN staffer really seems to appreciate this particular rack of equipment. What could make it so special?

Add your humorous caption as a comment to this project log. Make sure you're commenting on this project log, not on the project itself.

As always, if you actually have information about the image or the people in it, let CERN know on the original image discussion page.

Good Luck!

Here, a man is introduced to a piece of equipment his donation helped to purchase and instructed in it's usefulness at the CERN. "This machine has lots of neatly organized wires, blinky lights and 10 db 60hz hum. All working together to accomplish a very important goal here at CERN. It keeps donors out of the way so we can do tedious calculations on slide rules"

Don't feel bad... It was just terrible luck that it was Austin James' water bill.  Being out by 24 cents could happen to anyone.  You're only a computer, after all...

I like the cables, but do you think you can add more blinking lights and dials?

The prototype Raspberry Pi seemed to work ok, but they were a little worried that CompactPCI might not be the right form factor for the add-on cards...

Having never used a document shredder, Dr. Collins found the most intimidating looking machine and shoved his rolled up papers in the nearest slot and eagerly waited for the destruction to begin.  After several minutes he was certain this was NOT actually the document shredder ... but not certain enough to put his hand in harm's way and retrieve the documents.  It was a standoff with uncertainty
