Before I get into the figures of where we stand on the costs of what I have so far, I'd like to mention, since I was asked about this, that this entire project will be completely open source. At the moment I'm blinding charging forward to see how far I can take it before the contest ends so the files are not yet posted.

Besides, the files are changing as I go, and anything you downloaded now might be out of date tomorrow. I just don't know yet the final form of them. If you want to play with one, PM me and I'll get you want you need, with the understanding that changes may be made.

Now, to the reason for this post: I already had $86.77 in the syringe. That does include all the control electronics, so while it might seem a bit high for just the syringe, it's really not bad when you consider the control electronics is over and done with.

To that, I need to add the HV stuff. That looks like this:

1 - 100 megaohm resistor. $1.40

1- 1 megaohm resistor. $1.60

10 feet 40kV wire. $12.50

6- 470pf high voltage capacitors. $30.00

6- High voltage diodes. $21.30

Total: $68.25

The total for the last two are inflated a bit, because I didn't try to shop for free shipping, and that ran it up more than I want to admit. Basically, I wanted them two weeks ago and wasn't willing to wait any longer.

Add in the $86.77 from the syringe, and I'm out a total of $155.02 for the whole kit and caboodle. I consider that pretty good, even more so when I take in that it DID run that test today. I had the flyback transformer and it's control stuff here already, so that's not included in that total. But I will be replacing it at some point and I'll get that added in then when I have the actual cost.

So there you have it. For just over a hundred fifty bucks I have the main part of a electrospinning machine. Not too bad!
