This project is in a context of an engineering school program call CRI. The goal is convert mechanical energy to electrical energy.

At the beginning of the project, we have done a brainstorming with all the group to regroup our idea. All the group were agreeing to do a project about conversion of energy. The idea was to convert mechanical energy to electric energy. We were inspiring by article we have seen:

Cyr proposed to convert water energy, like turbine to create electrical energy.

After the brainstorming, the idea is to create a charger to your phone with your hand

  • 1 × Motor DC using like a Dynamo
  • 1 × transistor IC 7805 to have a constant 5V
  • 1 × Female usb to connect your phone
  • 1 × Wire to do the circuit
  • 1 × Breaboard to connect component

    Introduction

    Charge your phone when there is not current, no charger… was the idea of our project. We decided to build a project about convert human energy to electrical.

    So, we built a charger for a cell phone with your hand.

    The charger works on the principal of DC motor being used as a generator              converting mechanical energy to electrical energy. But since the voltage required   by a phone is 5V a voltage regulator IC 7805 is used to get the desired output voltage from  the DC motor.

    How it works

    When the shaft of the DC motor is rotated a DC voltage is induced at the terminals. But since its not possible for a human being to maintain a constant RPM of the shaft the output voltage of the motor keep varying at some time going beyond 5V which is above the save limit of the phones. Thus an IC 7805 is used to regulate the voltage and to make sure that we have a constant 5V.
