It looks like the controller panel is too small for the joystick. I've managed to put it together for now but I think I need some kind of a major redesign to make this fit correctly, right now the whole thing is upside down, I don't want this half fit thing as the final design. the alternative is also bad because the speakers on the speaker panel are too bit and they come in the way of the joystick pins and adapter.

I think for V2, I need to increase the dimensions of the entire arcade cabinet to accommodate all these mistakes. I won't be redesigning this right now because I'm almost out of plywood.
