This is my entry for the Circuit Sculpture contest. While the circuits in this project is simple, I feel that the message is what really shines. The “Bionic Koi” represents the post-war industrialization of Japan, and the shift in the culture of the country. Koi breeding is an aspect of traditional Japanese culture. However, these things faded and were replaced with new interest ssuch as electronics, robotics, and computer science, in an ever-changing world. I was inspired to make this sculpture when I was brainstorming about combinations of new and old, and how those two different ideas can work together.
