This project is currently in its infancy, with the hope of sparking the interest of other passionate individuals. I’ve created a basic airframe with the “octocopter” setup. The idea of the airframe is to have the props away from the pilots occupied space for safety and the orientation of the wings creates a safety cage in the event of a low hover accident. The Idea for the propulsion system is to stagger the top wings from the bottom wings a bit to keep the props out of each other’s wash along with the idea that the top props are for stability and thrust with the bottom props being more thrust orientated. The cockpit was designed around a formula 1 seating style to keep the profile as low as possible, this also allows for the battery to be located under the pilots feet, on the underside of the cockpit, putting the center of gravity as close to the center of the vehicle as possible.

I’m in the process of converting this project to Catia from Solidworks (which I’m also learning at the same time). This project is something I’m doing on my spare time as a personal project but if it gains interest, I would love to be able to devote more time to it. This project has zero funding and is simply something I’m passionate about doing. So, if you’re interested in getting involved don’t hesitated to reach out.
