This 3D printed robot tentacle and hand began as kind of a relaxation therapy project in the Summer of 2020, during the Covid-19 lockdown, and were designed while watching a lot of Adam SavageBaranby Dixon, and The Dark Crystal videos. I’ve been fascinated by robots, animatronic creature effects, and puppetry from the moment I witnessed Johnny 5 proclaim those immortal words, “Hey laser lips. Your mama was a snowblower." I’ve been tinkering with puppets and simple hand-operated animatronic mechanisms ever since. But, this is the first project of this kind I’ve shared online.

Each kit is comprised of 20-30 3D printed pieces that snap and press-fit together. They require NO additional parts, materials, or glue. They take approximately 10-12 hours to print and about 10 minutes to assemble.

They were designed to be disassembled with modular repairability in mind. So, If a part breaks* you can print a replacement and swap it out, without having to reprint anything else.
