    Instead of using printed paper we can use flexible E-paper display.

  • Idea for bigger displays

    The speed of rotation is high in order to have a stable image without flickering.

    That was easy for the lightweight and small Pringles can but if we want to display bigger images, the speed of rotation will cause problem.

    One solution is to use multiple cylinders as shown in the following figure.

    Each cylinder containing the exact same image.

    In the example shown, there is 6 cylinders so we can lower the rotation’s speed 6 times.

  • Problems encountered

    The most difficult problem I encountered is the suppression of vibrations due to high speed of rotation.

    As you can see in the video I used hot glue to fix the system to my computer’s case.

    In order to stabilize the system we can use the same solution used in certain cdrom drives and washing machines : some ball bearings that are free to move at the periphery of the rotating cylinder.
