Sol can depict any position and trajectory of the sun. Every day the sun’s path changes. The exact path the sun takes through the sky depends not only on the date but also on the physical location of the observer. Around the equator the sun rises almost perpendicular to the horizon this stands in stark contrast to the very shallow slope of the sunrise in the polar regions; here, depending on the season the sun might not even rise above the horizon at all. Sol reveals the different pathways the sun can take from anywhere in the world. It clarifies the movements of the sun.

Sol can purchased via my website shop.jellereith.nl

Beautiful project! Do you have anything to share about how you made it, what challenges you faced, what you learnt, how other people might start to do something similar? Without any build log or any of this - just a link to buy - it kinda feels like an ad :(

Love this! I really like depicting the cycle of the sun and how it relates to our understanding of the time. I made a linear clock that displays the percentage of the day elapsed since sunrise, and the time of sunset. It uses a GPS to get the time of day and location, but I imagine we share a lot of the same astronomical calculations! https://jmw.name/projects/linear-clock/

Nice! At first glance the photo looked like a render :)
