Water Pollution Detector

We want to build a device that examinate water and gives us it's pollution.

Similar projects worth following

We are students in an engineering school, ESME Sudria, based in Paris. During our fist year in the International Track, we have to realize a project with the CRI.

That's why we are very proud to introduce our project : the Water Pollution Detector. This device will be able to detect pollution in the water in a cheap way, using turbidity, temperature.... This project is according to the UNO's Sustainable development Goals.

We will hold a projet diary. Each weak we will inform you of our progresing (or not ;D).

You can follow us on Twitter or here on hackday.

Today we found a new design ! It's not as cool as the 3D model but it will work. We're proud to announce that the beacon will be made with a bowl from the supermarket !! The code is working well we're doing the tests with all the components and we didn't face any failure yet.

We're actually working on the WiFi connection and the server creation.

Infortunately we killed the GPS module.... we will miss it.

It will end next week so we're confiddent that it will work. The final project isn't really what we thought in the beginning but it's great.

We had some issue with the design so we need to think about something new to keep the project going.

We need to leave the 3D model behind because the printer won't be able to print what we need....

We're still working on the finlal code to use all the components together at the same time. We only need to add the WiFi connection and create an UDP server to transmit all the datas from the arduino to our computer.

Today we're trying to make the structure of our beacon ( you can see the design in the first post ) , unfortunately we encounter some issues , we tought it would be easy for us to make then cone in styrofoam but we have not the possibility to do it . So we will make the cone with the 3D printer and continue the idea of the PVC circle and the aluminum links.

What's more we tested our GPS and it works too, so we are good for our components , we have them and ready to work ! Now we just miss our wi-fi module because we still need the server and it will probably take some time.

Today we are testing the temperature sensor , the turbidity sensor with their programs and they are both working ! There is a photo of the temperature sensor down below. We also add the codes we used for these components in the files of the project.

Otherwise we have some issues with the wi-fi module, indeed we need a server to make our proper network so we continue to work on it and we will make a post when we achieved to do it !

Finally we will test the GPS module next time , and we will keep you informed of the developments.

We were expecting to start building our beacon, but unfortunately, no components arrived yet.

We finalized our 3D design : - the green piece is a float made out of PVC tubings (stiffer than styrofoam).

    - the blue parts are made out of aluminium tubes.

    - the red cone is made in styrofoam.

What's more , we can already tell you that the sensors will be placed a the tip of the cone.
