Ourglass

An open source BLE watch

Similar projects worth following
An open source smart watch that aims to empower users. Eventual features include single board construction, I2C expandability, and very low power usage.

The project is in the very early stages; if you go read the blog, you'll see that I'm not only thrashing around a lot, I'm making a lot of mistakes along the way. I'm on version 3 or 4 of the prototype, depending on what counts as a prototype. I have at least one more version to be feature complete; I want a face that lights up, and some kind of vibration alert.

So, I've been working on this off and on for the last year or so, been through three major iterations, and I'm considering a fourth. I've reached all my goals for size and features. The current case doesn't have button pushers, but the switches are there under the surface. The case is 40x40mm, and 7mm thick, excluding the lugs. That could go down as low as 37x37x6mm with thinner plastics, but there's a limit to what my printer can manage. I might have something printed in steel or brass, I think that would be nice. More info, including a new BOM, can be found at http://ourglass.watch.

I've posted a little about the reflow oven I've built in order to actually build this thing here on the blog. Also, a general status update is here (also the project blog). It's still pretty rough, but hopefully I'll have more updates in the next few days.

Where can I get a ruler like the one shown in the pictures?

It's the Adafruit PCB ruler, https://www.adafruit.com/products/1554. Pretty sure I got it as a free gift from a large order, but they're pretty cheap, anyway.
