I think that some projects are just harder to describe, as in, what benefit they bring. Last year, I had a project I believe in (and I felt like it needed all the attention) , but it never got through - and, I believe, for the reason of being harder to understand. This year, I'd like to believe I learned from previous year's mistakes, it seems to be that way in practice, at least. 

Please, consider not giving up like that - I myself feel like it from time to time, whether due to internal or external reasons, but the bottomline for me is - it's not about winning, it's what about you can manage to achieve, about the deadlines that motivate you, about topics that make you think, finding people that want to work with you, as well as just talking about your project and getting new ideas.

Somehow, I think that if this were to be submitted from the beginning, it'd have definitely gotten at least one prize. I say that because I think that, closer to the end, the list of projects just was too big for judges to not have to make compromises (which doesn't explain all the projects in last round that won multiple times, oh well).

I understand being sad about not winning, but throwing shade on the people that did win is kind of a crummy thing to do!

I aim to be as honest as I can, to a fault if necessary. You're welcome to disagree with my opinions, or course, but when I say I've not heard a peep about something in 'x' years or whatever, that's honest truth -- and, in this case, I think it's the sort of truth that reflects somewhat on the choices the judges made in that particular contest.

I admit that my entry into the first Prize contest did not fit the contest well (if at all) and that I abstained the second time... but that, in and of itself, does not excuse bad judging... and in my opinion, the judges of these Prize contests have been /consistently/ bad, multiple years in a row, and so far without exception. I'm not saying that because I lost, but because it's a pattern I see.

Seems to me that they pick the most irrelevant, GNDN (goes nowhere, does nothing) project they can find as their winner every year. First time round it was some sort of grassroots satellite tracking thing that I've not heard one peep about since. I don't even remember what won last year.

I say this at about this point each go-round -- maybe this year I'll learn my lesson -- I don't think I'll be entering next year. This is, to put it bluntly, bullshit.
