I wondered if I could use these boards as hard drive controllers, instead of having to invent an IDE controller. A quick look at eBay.co.uk showed that although some drives were cheap, they were the dodgier looking ones. For the others, it was hard to see what connector they used. I need a 50-way IDC, but some drives use two 50-pin connectors, 68 or 80 pins, or Centronics style, or some proprietary docking connector.

eBay.com has more offerings for those in the USA, but shipping costs and import duties deter the UK buyer.

This is a shame, I had hoped to buy a couple cheap to experiment with.

Given the hurdles in obtaining SCSI drives of the right type, I shan't pursue using them.
