Open Source Android app to detect attacks of IMSI-Catchers / StingRay and silent SMS.

Welcome to the Android IMSI-Catcher Detector, an app that aims to detect attacks on your phone.

We, the CellularPrivacy collective, are a bunch of security geeks that simply got sick of the continuous spying through governments and criminals, especially through the usage of IMSI-Catchers (also known as StingRay) which are false mobile towers (base stations) acting between the target mobile phone(s) and the real towers of service providers. As such they are considered a Man-In-The-Middle (MITM) attack. This surveillance technology is also known as "StingRay", "Cellular Interception" and alike. Find out more in our Wiki on GitHub.

If you think that is the fully story already, rest assured it isn't. IMSI-Catchers are even used for fully automated drone mass killings: The NSA’s Secret Role in the U.S. Assassination Program.

Yes, it is an incredible attempt and we know development is hard and slow. We're still in ALPHA stage. And that is why we're constantly seeking Android Developers, GSM and network specialists as well as people owning a self-built IMSI-Catcher to join our team and improve our Android app!

Thank you for notifying us about this "new" system, we have added it to our documentation here: http://git.io/jdRO. To answer your question: No, we are not related in any way to them. The difference to their system is that they are detecting IMSI-Catchers via the CryptoPhone, which costs a lot of money and we are simply a bunch of funky privacy-enthusiasts who are coding our App to give an open source and completely free security tool into the hands of the public. Since our App is still in heavy development, it does not yet have all detection methods implemented. We are always searching for Android Developers to speed up the process. Join us! ;-)
