YES, micro USB footprints EVERYWHERE! And how about an optional CH340G footprint to omit the problem of different pinouts of different USB2serial dongles? I personally prefer the CP2102.

I'm not so sure about the serial chips, because of all the options etc. so maybe this project of @al1 would be interesting for you then?

Yeah, I've seen his board but I think I got deterred by the mini USB ;) But maybe I'll bug him until he switches to micro USB ;)

I just figured if you add USB you might as well add the footprint for a serial chip while still keeping the serial header.

I'm not sure if the ch340g is working with OSX - I think that's why I skipped that.. I have to check the footprints of mini and micro usb ports, maybe they are quite alike and there is a dual footprint. I could not find a micro usb footprint in my libraries...

dual foot print for micro and mini USB sounds like a good Idea. I shuold add that to my todo list.

Hey @al1, would you mind connecting DTR/CTS?

correction: it's DTR and RTS for ESPtool and NodeMCU devkit

I have stated to think about a next revision of my PCB. There I will use both micro and mini USB. And also I will try to get optional compatibility to the nodeMCU boards. Check ouzt my project log there will be (maybe tomorrow or after my vacation - at the end of august) a new log entry about this new revison.
