Done?

A project log for Revive "Wiring" ?

Low cost ATmega128A-based arduino-compatible PCB with original "Wiring" form factor.

So I guess it's about "done".  This is based on the Wiring 0004 design that you can still download from Wiring.org.co, but has the following changes:

  1. Replace FTDI circuitry with Baite CH340E USB/Serial module.
  2. Use TO220 version of regulator for better power dissipation
  3. add the diode clamp to RESET
  4. add space for GND pins/connectors between the IO connectors.
  5. replace 1206 SMT components with 0805.  Include some multiple footprints for various "large" components.
  6. More bypass caps, moved closer to the chip.
  7. name most signals with meaningul names.
  8. get more verbose on the silkscreen (and add a bottom layer silkscreen.)
  9. complete manual re-route with relaxed design rules.  More careful 16MHz crystal layout, attempt to shield "sensitive" signals, even teardrops!

It looks like the same PCB should work with ATmega1281 and ATmega2561 chips.  Those however, do not seem to have the desirable "about $1 from China" characteristic.

10: add jumper (NC) for autoreset.
