Continuing basic range-of-motion checks, i noticed that the linkages for the hips would hang up on the hip mounts, did a minor redesign- it got rainy and humid here yesterday, so my 3D printer got really finicky- it only took 3-4 tries to get the linkages printed, but finally, success.

And installed on Mk3.

I wonder, have you considering using nylon or acrylic bolts, instead of metal ones? I recently replaced the metal bolts with acrylic in one of my robots, and it's so much lighter! And lighter means less force needed to move it and less inertia.

One of my aims was to use only stuff i had in my "Project pile" already - so my source for "hardware" has been the random coffee can on my workbench.

I'd consider nylon hardware for some of the parts, like the front bulkhead there, but i probably wouldnt use it on those hip linkages- after actually power it up and testing, i managed to warp and crack a servo horn there, not sure if plastic hardware would be the best plan.
My first investment however is more likely to be in an Arduino micro/mini, a battery & some 2.4ghz transceivers so i can eliminate the tether.


after adding battery weight, i may very well be revisiting the "heavy hardware" question though.
