Part of the design of this project was to make sure it integrated into the space well. The house is an old New England home, with lots of stained wood and wooden details. All the housing needed to be made of wood to fit in better.

I wanted to play with using laser cut veneer too, so I was able to do that with this project. By carefully setting the laser power, I was able to both discolor as well as etch the veneer to thin it enough to have LEDs shine through it clearly (but appear wooden when they're off). In the photos, the LED shows the current group number and provides feedback when the buttons are pressed.
