Our current prototype uses the Invision platform, which we have decided might not be right for us. Because of the way the platform is set up, we can't do everything that we want to do with the app, and we are sort of at a dead end.

These are some pictures of what we have created with the app, but the interface is lacking key components that we need. We cannot give administrative access to organizations, and some of the transitions between pages don't make sense. We believe we are going to try and use Mobincube now because with the Pro plan, they offer administrative access through a cloud system. We also don't have to go through the hassle of photoshopping a page and then uploading it to the program. We can create pages right on the app so that they are more cohesive.

We've determined that going the RFP route isn't what we want to do. It will take far too long, and we're not sure that the computer science majors at the school have the skills needed to actually code this whole app. We've decided that we're going to do it ourselves by making the app through an online app maker. We're in the process of deciding which app developing platform we want to use. There are so many options, and we are currently weighing them in hopes of finding the perfect one for us.

We have consulted with our advisor and have discovered a possible way to search for an app developer. We are planning on making a Request for Proposal that could be distributed to iMedia students on campus. This would be a great way to develop the app because we can get someone who is far more experienced with mobile app technology than we are. We could use our prototype as a template and have the developer do the coding. This is also a good step because getting other university students involved can help us get feedback on what actual students would expect out of the app. So creating and sending out an RFP will be our next step in this process!

Our biggest issue right now is figuring out who is actually going to code the app we want to build. While I am a computer science major, I have not yet learned how to build an app, nor do I know what programming environment to use. I can learn quickly, but I don't know if I can learn before the kickbox assignments are due. We could try to get someone to code for us, but we don't know if we have the funds for that. We also want to partner with Elon so that the app is sustainable, but we would have to talk to someone in the university about making this a possibility. We're hoping that if we give them a fully functioning, or mostly fully functioning, app then they could sustain it. We have to see if the university would even be into this idea as an option as well.
