Introduction

This project aims to create a device on the back of the respirator of firefighters, that is able to monitor the air pressure and relay this information to the operations manager. The device also detects if the firefighter stops moving and sounds an alarm if that is the case.

With this device the operations manager can plan ahead easier and even see if a firefighter is having an emergency.

Electronics

This project requires a lot of electronic components that have to work reliably. So after building a test setup to confirm the circuit diagram and the PCB layout is correct we were able to order our PCBs at JLCPCB.

Ordering the PCBs

We ordered our PCBs at https://jlcpcb.com/RAT who kindly sponsored this project. The ordering of the PCBs was very simple ánd straightforward.

All we had to do was choose the amount of layers we needed and upload our gerber files. We also chose to order a stencil, so we could easily solder the components to our board.

After a week all the PCBs and the stencil arrived in perfect condition.

With the Stencil we were easily able to solder SMD components to the PCB.

We were very happy with the results and can only recommend choosing https://jlcpcb.com/RAT for your next project.
